Welcome to My Personal Page
I have seen some close relatives lose their battle and now it is my turn to fight. Many of you know I have been on a liver transplant list for many years. Recently I was removed from that list when a lymphoma was found that has spread to other organs as well. I will never have that transplant now. I will never be better than I am right now. When the lymphoma grows worse they can attempt to to use chemo (under very tight monitoring due to the damaged liver) and hope that it puts it back a bit, even then I will still have a failing organ that we can only hope does not stop functioning completely. The only thing that I have or that soooo many others worse than me have, or that the next generations has all lie in research.
Some changes that have occured in a year. I have changed oncologists. This one is at Northwastern, the same place as my transplant team. Due to research like Stand Up Cancer provides, he believes that with treatment he can put the lymphoma into remission and is working closely with the transplant team to have me put back on the transplant list. Now more changes since that last writing, I am not a candidate for chemo, just directed radiation if a mass grows too big, and they did tell me they can not radiate all the masses.. My liver has jumped up a bit the MELD score making me closer to the slim posibility of a transplant and that is if the cancer does not get worse, just the organ. If both get worse, I can see the logic in no transplant. At the same time I have come to know what living between a rock and hard place is truly like.
Research has helped so many allready and it is through your help that it continue to do so. Remember Stand Up 2 Cancer is where the end of Cancer begins!
For the first time in history, we can imagine stopping cancer in its tracks.
Stand Up To Cancer (SU2C) is a groundbreaking initiative created to accelerate innovative cancer research that will get new therapies to patients quickly and save lives now. SU2C is bringing together the best and the brightest researchers and encouraging collaboration instead of competition among the entire cancer community.
I am asking that you join me in the fight against cancer by making a donation to Stand Up To Cancer. We draw our resolve from those whom cancer has taken, those still in fight, and those who have triumphed over this disease. Thank you for standing up with me.
